Horatio Kitchener

British military officer and statesman (1850–1916) who served as Victoria’s aide-de-camp in Sudan, commanded the British forces during the Boer War, and was appointed secretary of state for war at the outbreak of World War I. Fountain pen signature, “Kitchener, F. M.,” on an off-white 3.75 x 1 clipped slip vertically affixed to a 3.5 x 5.5 photo postcard of Kitchener in full regalia. A collector’s date notation of 1915 is in the bottom border. Trivial soiling to slip and some light wear to corners of the postcard, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
