One letter, in part: “I trust you will pardon my venturing to send, to ‘U. S. Grant Post 327’—the large portrait of General U. S. Grant, which my husband valued & thought excellent as well, who would have liked your Post to have the photograph of him, General Frederick D. Grant, who was devoted to you all! I hope, it will also not be taken amiss, that I ventured to send the afghan (flag design) which was presented to Gen’l U. S. Grant when he was President, & the humidor for cigars, which belonged to my husband Gen’l F. D. Grant, which I am hoping may be used.” In overall fine condition. RR Auction COA.
