Description

Rare oversized example of Lincoln’s last portrait by H. F. Warren

Rare 8 x 10 albumen imperial cabinet card of Abraham Lincoln by H. F. Warren. The light image was taken while the President was on the White House balcony on March 6, 1865. The photographer's imprint is on the front. The blank back bears a small pencil note. The photo is trimmed, otherwise has only light overall wear and aging. Rare and unusual due to the large size. This particular image was published in three different sizes by the photographer: a carte-de-visite, a small-format mounted albumen photograph (6 x 8.5 inches), and a large-format mounted albumen photograph (11 x 14 inches). This large-format size issued during Lincoln's life is the most desirable form of this extremely significant portrait. RR Auction COA.
