Desirable mounted platinum print photograph of Lincoln, 6.25 x 8.5, printed by George B. Ayres circa 1890 from the original negative taken by Alexander Hesler shot in Springfield, Illinois in 1860. Affixed to a same-size mount, with a copyright credit on the reverse, “Copyright, Geo. B. Ayres, Phila.” The expensive and rare platinum print process is generally ranked as one of the highest end forms of black and white photography. Incredibly high image quality for a 19th century photo of Lincoln, with great detail and deep, steely tones. The image has some surface wear and a few chips to the neatly trimmed edges, which can be easily matted out. An exquisite antique photo of the president. RR Auction COA.
