King Edward VII

Prince of Wales and first British monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Edward’s reign (1901–1910) was named the Edwardian era, during which time of pioneering technological advances, including powered light and the rise of socialism. He was also responsible for the reformation of the Army Medical Services, the modernization of the British Home Fleet, and the reorganization of the British army after the Second Boer War. Partly-printed DS, signed “Albert Edward P,” one page, 10 x 16.5, March 30, 1867. A juror’s appointment in the International Jury for the Paris Exhibition. In part: “The Commissioners appointed by Her Majesty the Queen to advise on the best mode by which the Products of Industry and the Fine Arts of the United Kingdom, the British Colonies, and Dependencies, may be procured and sent to the Universal Exhibition of Works of Industry and Agriculture to be holden in Paris in the year 1867, and to appoint Jurors, Do hereby…[and do appo]int – Nassau J. Senior, esquire as Associate Juror to represent the United Kingdom.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, a few small separations and areas of paper loss along folds, a few repairs on reverse, some scattered toning and soiling, and a few creases.
