Description

Potter sends a ‘Peter Rabbit’ Christmas greeting

British author and illustrator (1866–1943) whose Edwardian-era tales of naughty rabbits, ‘bad’ mice, and other amusingly mischievous animals take a place among the most enduring and beloved works in the annals of children’s literature. Her first and best-known book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, has sold more than 40 million copies since it was first published in 1902. Greeting card, 4.25 x 6, featuring a color illustration of two rabbits on the front and a further black and white illustration inside of a cat at a window, captioned, 'Tom Kitten's Mother lives in that house; I hope she is not looking,’ signed in fountain pen, “Beatrix Potter,” and inscribed by Potter to “Celia N. Edwards, Christmas 1936.” In fine condition, with a couple light creases and some trivial foxing. A great card that features two of Potter’s classic illustrations and a crisp, clean signature. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
