In full: “On the other side is my name, as requested, & my work is done exclusively in oil colors, but in a rather queer, very old fashioned technique, as I paint in transparent colors only on a white ground, & never mix colors; but glaze on over another when the under one is dry. Sorry I cannot send you a sketch, but if I made all that are asked I would be doing nothing else night and day.” Signed “Maxfield Parrish” on the reverse.
