Description

After his time as a G-Man, Purvis sends an impassioned letter to his future wife

TLS signed “Melvin,” two pages, 7.25 x 10.75, June 11, 1938. Letter to Rosanne, presumably his future wife. In part: “This is an important time in our lives and for that reason I have wondered what you mean by saying that if you had gone back you might have never seen me again…you know how I have always loved you and how I love you now. Nothing can ever change that. I want to marry you more than anything but I do like to feel that you would have gotten your freedom anyway. You have told me how miserable you were for all those years and my feeling has been keen because you had to waste those years, and more so because they have been wasted to me…The only thing for you to determine is whether our future together is worth all the unpleasantness involved.” In fine condition, with a central horizontal and vertical fold and a uniform shade of mild toning.
