TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, American National Red Cross letterhead, January 22, 1900. Letter to Miss Marilla Andrews. In full: "Replying to your letter of Jan. the tenth, I would say that we can send you a few little booklets, and can further recommend you to a book, 'History of the Red Cross in Peace and War;' published by A. R. Keller, 156-Fifth, Ave. New York, City. And being a subsription [sic] book can be best obtained by addressing him for it." Barton adds a typed postscript, "P.S. The little booklets what we send, are so largely called for that we are compelled to place a little price, which you can return in stamps if you please, on receipt." At the bottom Barton writes, "Inclosures." In very good condition, with intersecting folds, a uniform shade of toning, and light overall feathering to signature. Cordial letter from Barton after her return from Cuba after the Spanish-American War. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
