Description

James Monroe

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15 x 9.5, October 20, 1823. Monroe grants Edward Cowart 34 acres of land in Mississippi. Signed at the conclusion, “James Monroe,” and countersigned by George Graham, Commissioner of the General Land Grant Office. In very good condition, with heavy intersecting folds with small paper separation along one of the bottom folds, heavy wrinkling to the left side making some words in the left margin difficult to read, a few tiny holes from ink erosion, uniform light toning, and scattered light soiling. Monroe’s signature is a shade light but legible, and the white seal is worn, but intact. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
