While her husband is embroiled in battle, Mary Louise signs an official document

The second wife of Emperor Napoleon I of France (1791-1847). Impressive partly-printed DS on vellum, in French, signed “Mary Louise.” One page, 22.25 x 18, October 19, 1813, with Napoleon’s titles printed at the top. Marie Louise authorizes Dumont Devaux to remain in the service of the King of Westphalia.Signed at the conclusion in black ink by the Empress of France, who signs in the absence of the Emperor, who was engaged in the battle of Leipzig. King Jerome had fled Cassel, and the Kingdom of Westphalia came to an end as the result of the French defeat at Leipzig. In fine, bright condition, with intersecting folds, and a bit of light toning and wrinkling. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
