Robert Saunders Dundas

Scottish statesman and vice admiral for whom Melville Sound was named in honor of his interest in Arctic exploration. LS signed “Melville,” one page, 7.25 x 9, November 24, 1826. Letter to C. W. Flint advising him that his son is to be “inserted on the List of candidates for admission to the Royal Naval College at Portsmouth, and have no doubt that you may depend upon his being admitted when he attains the proper edge.” Letter is affixed by its second integral page to a slightly larger album page. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered toning and soiling, and a couple of fingerprints. RRAuction COA.
