Description

Kennedy provides his fuels on oil imports

TLS, one page, 8 x 9.75, United States Senate letterhead, May 19, 1953. Letter to the Secretary of the Gloucester Chamber of Commerce. In part: “Because of your interest in maintaining an adequate supply of economical residual fuel oil in New England, I thought you might be interested in the attached copy of my testimony before House Ways and Means Committee protesting those provisions of the Simpson Bill and other bills which would severely limit residual fuel oil imports. There is little question in my mind that because of the strength of the oil and coal groups supporting these restrictions such legislation will be a very real issue during this session of Congress. You may be interested, therefore, in reproducing this statement, which attempts to summarize all of the basic arguments against such limitations in a non-partisan manner, for distribution to your associates or other interested groups.” In fine condition, with paperclip impression to top edge, and a mild shade of toning from previous display. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
