Signed book: Profiles in Courage. Later printing. NY: Harper and Brothers, 1955. Hardcover with dustjacket, 6 x 8.5, 266 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page in blue ballpoint, “To Josephine, With very best wishes, John Kennedy.” Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original owner stating that the signature was obtained in-person at a fundraiser in Lexington, Massachusetts, for the young senator at the beginning of his run for presidency. The owner, then seven years old, was sent up to Kennedy by her aunt, Josephine (to whom the book is inscribed), to ask for an autograph. In fine condition, with trivial light toning and a few spots of soiling to signed page, to word “To” a bit light, rubbing and scattered soiling to boards; the dustjacket is sunned along its spine and chipped along its edges, with some light creasing, short tears, and ring of water-staining on the front. A fantastic item with great provenance! Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
