Pope, born Eugenio Maria Giuseppe Giovanni Pacello (1876–1958), who reigned from 1939 until his death. Maintaining strict neutrality during WWI, he advanced several peace proposals, did much to aid war victims, and, following the war, maintained a staunch anti-Communist stand. DS, in Latin, signed “Pius pp. XII,” one page, 10 x 15, 1944. Pius bestows an honor on Josepho M. Velasco Ibarra, beautifully signed on the back in black ink by the Holy Father. In fine condition.
