Poniatowski bestows Poland’s highest military honor

Polish politician and military leader (1763–1813) who, after rising through the ranks of the Austrian and Polish armies, became a Marshal of France following his distinguished service in Napoleon’s Russian and German campaigns of 1812–13. Partly-printed DS, in Polish, one page, 10.75 x 17, January 1, 1808. Poniatowski awards Knighthood of the Order of Military Virtue, then Poland's highest military order, to Lazarus Coquengniot, major in the Northern Legion of the Army of the Duchy of Warsaw. In fine condition, with expected folds, and a bit of scattered light soiling. RRAuction COA.
