In part: “It is most kind of you to ask me for your … party—and it would give me great pleasure to accept your invitation. But during November our Courts are in full operation so that I never anticipate being able with any certainty to leave London. This being so—and knowing how inconvenient it is…. I fear I must reluctantly say ‘no’ to your kind invitation. This 12th of August is a sad day to spend in London—and it is none the less sad by having to cut off the prospect of good sport….” In very good condition, with light scattered soiling and mounting remnants to blank top margins of first and last pages, no faults affecting the darkly penned text.
