Description

Franz Schreker

German composer (1878–1934) best known for his operas and orchestral music. Schreker, a Jew, was denounced by the Nazis for the production of “Entartete” music, placing him in the company of such “rejects” as Mendelssohn, Mahler, and Schoenberg. Uncommon matte-finish 8 x 10 paperstock photo, affixed to a 7.5 x 10.25 card, signed in fountain pen, “F. Schreker” and inscribed (in German) to Sophie Eichberg and dated October 1915. In fine condition, with faint rippling and wrinkling and mild scattered soiling. RRAuction COA.
