Bank check, 7.75 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Cleveland, payable to Stohlmann, Pfarre & Co. for $3.00, January 12, 1907. Stohlmann, Pfarre & Co. were manufacturers of surgical tools and appliances, and it is quite possible that the payment was related to the prosthesis worn by Cleveland following a secret operation to remove a cancerous tumor from his jaw, which took place in a yacht anchored off Long Island on July 1, 1893, during his second presidential term. Vertical folds (one to last name) and usual punch cancellations near but not touching signature, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
