Union general (1805–1871) dubbed the Hero of Fort Sumter for refusing Confederate demands to surrender the fort and enduring two days of bombardment before finally submitting. Ink signature, “Respectfully yr. obt. servt., Robert Anderson, Major Gen. USA, N. York, Decr. 6, 1867,” on an off-white 3.25 x 1.75 card.
