Description

Queen of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837 until her death in 1901. Her more than sixty-three years on the throne remains unmatched in the history of Great Britain and places her among the longest-reigning monarchs of any nation in modern times. The unprecedented growth and prosperity of the British Empire under her rule—as well as a strangely prescient public fascination with the queen and her family—made her one of the most celebrated public figures of her day, and her name would become synonymous with an entire age. DS, signed “Victoria R,” one page, 13.25 x 9.25, May 25, 1846. Queen Victoria appoints Robert Bruce Gent to the position of “First Lieutenant in Our Twenty-third Regiment of Foot.” Signed in the top left corner by Victoria. Document retains its paper seal and treasury stamp. In very good condition, with three vertical folds, scattered toning and foxing, and Victoria’s signature a couple shades light, but completely legible. R&R COA.
