Description

Signer of the U.S. Constitution from Pennsylvania (1744–1800) and first governor of that state. Impressive partially printed DS, boldly signed “Tho. Mifflin,” one page on vellum, 20.75 x 11, September 30, 1795. A grant for a parcel of land called “Hampshire” in Hains Township, Pennsylvania, issued to Peter Housel. The embossed paper seal remains intact at upper left. Matted and framed with a portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 35.5 x 20.5. Intersecting folds, a few wrinkles and faint spots to blank portions, and light staining and a few small losses to “rays” of seal, otherwise fine, bright condition. R&R COA. Oversized.
