Third son of Dauphin Louis, husband of Marie Antoinette, deposed in September of 1792, tried for treason December 1792, found guilty, condemned to death and guillotined. DS, in French, signed “Louis,” one page, 8.75 x 12, December 3, 1791. Document issued to Jean-Baptiste Tourteau, Treasure in Chief of his Civil List, ordering him to pay the sum of 1500 livres in salary to S. Bonnefoy, Keeper of the Queen’s furniture. Signed at the conclusion in ink by Louis, who would be beheaded just thirteen months later. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, some scattered light soiling, a few wrinkles, and staining along extreme top edge from old adhesive remnants on the reverse.
