TLS, four pages, 7.25 x 10.5, 16 letterhead, April 16, 1947. A fund-raising letter to multiple-Tony-winning producer Gilbert Miller (1884–1970). In part: “Billy Rose, Emil Friedlander and I would like to have you as our guest for luncheon…. We are all Co-Chairmen of the Amusement Division of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York which, as you know, has done such magnificent work for what is left of Jewry in Europe…. Never before have so many unfortunate people needed help so desperately. They are at the end of their resources, spiritual and physical. This may be the last chance to prove that we, who were spared their tragic suffering, have not forgotten them.” Stapled to the letter are an unsigned carbon of Miller’s reply and an unsigned promotional postcard from Rodgers to Miller which can easily be removed.
