Scarce document from Signer John Penn

DS, signed “J. Penn,” one page both sides, 7 x 3, May 5, 1783. He was elected to attend the provincial Congress in 1775 and elected to the Continental Congress that same year. He served there until 1777, participating in committee work. He was again elected in 1779, appointed to the Board of War, where he served until 1780. Document ordering a North Carolina sheriff to take John Henderson into custody concerning a twenty thousand pound debt, signed on the reverse in black ink by Penn. In fine condition, with some light toning and soiling, several vertical folds and some light wrinkling. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
