They had been trapped as well - by their own pretensions of power.”); John J. Sirica (“…or members of Congress who put politics aside to do their unpleasant jobs, or the news reporters who wouldn’t drop a story when they were under pressure to do so, the so-called heroes of Watergate were more than people doing what was right, doing their jobs whether they were scared or exhausted or being criticized, or were all alone.”); Alexander M. Haig, Jr.; Richard Helms; Egil Krogh Jr. (“At the time, in 1972, I thought that what we were doing was dictated inescapably by the national security interests.”); Elliot L. Richardson; Peter W.
