Description

Signer of the Constitution, American Revolutionary politician and diplomat, Morris coined the terms 'dollar' and 'cent' for his system of decimal coinage. ALS, 9.5 x 8 folded, New Ark letterhead, May 26, 1800. Third person ALS reads, in part: 'Whom presents his compliments to Leroy Bayrd...He will call on them in his day home...in their letter of the 25th which is just received.' Gouvernour Morris has signed and addressed the integral address panel. In fine condition, with a small area of paper loss to the upper left corner, affecting nothing, a small area of discoloration from sealing wax impression. RRAuction COA.
