Description

Inventor of both the electric telegraph and Morse code. DS, signed 'Saml. F. B. Morse,' one page, 7.75 x 3, February 3, 1836. Document written in Morse's hand in which he notes the receipt of a new stove. In full, 'Received of the University of the city of New York the sum of eighteen dollars, (the price of a Nott stove to be fixed by the University in my room,) towards defraying the expense of an Olmstead stove, I having permission to substitute the latter kind for the former.' Document is affixed to a slightly larger slip. Some scattered toning, creasing to lower left corner, light show through from text on reverse and some light wrinkling, otherwise fine condition.
