In the wake of the Russian Revolution, Nicholas, Empress Alexandra, and their children were imprisoned and finally executed on July 17, 1918. Two rare original photographs of Nicholas II: a matte-finish 4 x 3 full-length photo of Nicholas II standing in a long overcoat and traditional peaked cap, affixed by its top edge to a 5.5 x 3.5 mount, with pencil notations in Russian on the reverse of the photo; and a matte-finish 3.5 x 3.25 photo of Nicholas II riding in a boat, taped by its corners to a 3.75 x 5.5 mount, annotated in pencil on the mount with a date of 1916.
