Description

Souvenir ‘pardon payment’ check to Nixon

Printed souvenir check, 8 x 3.25, signed by Ford, "G. Ford," payable to Richard M. Nixon for $200,000, September 8, 1974. In very fine condition. This was the same day that Ford granted a 'full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States.' Contrary to the implication of this souvenir check, President Ford equivocally denied that any financial deal was made in regard to his decision to pardon Nixon following his resignation.
