ALS signed “Kate,” one page, 6 x 8, personal letterhead, June 9, 1982. Handwritten letter to pianist Laura Dubman, who worked with Hepburn during the production of the 1947 film Song of Love, in full: “Your flowers are sitting in the corner of my bedroom looking absolutely adorable. You are sweet to welcome me back. Thank you.” In fine condition, with a couple of small stains.
The 54th Academy Awards ceremony took place on March 29, 1982, and was highlighted by a record-setting fourth Best Actress Oscar win by legendary performer Katharine Hepburn, who won the award for her role as Ethel Thayer in the 1981 film On Golden Pond. Her other Oscar-winning roles were in the films Morning Glory, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and The Lion in Winter; interestingly, her Oscar for the latter was shared with Barbra Streisand, marking the first—and so far, only—tie for the Best Actress Oscar.
