Description

Founding Father, planter, and lawyer (1742–1779) who served as a delegate for South Carolina to the Continental Congress in 1778-79 and signed the Articles of Confederation. Manuscript DS, signed “Wm. Hy. Drayton,” one page, 6.25 x 5.5, November 29, 1774. Legal document in the case of "The King vs. Dempsey Thomas," in part: "Dempsey Thomas was Convicted before me of stealing a horse the property of John Baxter upon the Evidence of the Said John Baxter and Josiah Harrell." Signed at the conclusion by Drayton, and endorsed on the reverse by Baxter and Harrell. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
