Description

Lawyer and statesman from Philadelphia (1786–1868) who followed his father, Jared Ingersoll, and his older brother, Charles Jared Ingersoll, to represent Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives; he later served as minister to Great Britain during the Fillmore administration. ALS signed “J. R. Ingersoll,” one page, 7.5 x 9.75, December 19, 1817. Handwritten letter to George West, in part: "I have the pleasure to inform you that the auditors have this day filed their report in the office of the Clerk of the Orphans Court and communicated notice of it to the parties. The report embraces the following particulars: 1. That your account as Executor filed with the register is correct…2. That your supplemental account is correct…3. That the balance due to the estate of James Seales as admitted by you, has been fully expended…4. That the estate of James Searle owes you a balance of $1073.80." In fine condition.
