Founding Father, lawyer, and jurist (1736–1797) who served as a delegate from Connecticut to the Second Continental Congress, signed the Articles of Confederation in 1778, and served as chief justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1793 until his death. Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DS, signed “And'w Adams,” one page, 7.25 x 4.25, August 2, 1775. Pay order submitted to the "Treasurer of ye Colony of Connecticut," in part: "Please to pay out of your Treasury unto Solomon Marsh, Capt. of ye fourth Military Company in Town of Litchfield, ye sum of seventeen pounds four shillings lawful money being for ye attendance of ye non commission officers & soldiers belonging to said Company on Military Exercises." Signed at the conclusion in ink by Andrew Adams and Reuben Smith as justices of the peace. In fine condition. Encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services and also accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from Beckett.
