Two postal items from the Post Office in Orange, New Jersey, which contain a total of four Thomas Edison signatures, all of which feature his iconic ‘umbrella’ autograph. The lot consists of a ‘Standing Order’ form, one page, 3.5 x 8, October 1, 1894, signed at the bottom in bold ink, “Thomas A. Edison,” who authorizes John Randolph and Harry Miller to receive registered letters and parcels on his behalf; and three pages removed from a letter carrier log book, 5 x 8, each page signed once by Edison as “Thos. A Edison,” who signs in ink on November 23, 1908, and in pencil on both December 21, 1908, and on May 17, 1909. The three log book pages feature several secretarial signatures, which are missing Edison’s trademark ‘umbrella.’ In overall fine condition.
