Description

Two items: a TLS as president, signed "Dwight D. Eisenhower," one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, January 7, 1956, to James J. Rowley, in part: "I am deeply touched, as I know Mrs. Eisenhower will be, by your thought in giving us, for our Gettysburg home, a Wittnauer Weather-Key instrument"; and a birthday card, measuring 9.25 x 5.5 open, signed and inscribed inside in fountain pen, "To Mr. Rowley, Mamie Doud Eisenhower, October 14, 1955." In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original White House transmittal envelope for Dwight Eisenhower's letter. James J. Rowley, a member of the United States Secret Service, would serve as the Director of the United States Secret Service from 1961 to 1973.
