ADS signed "Wm. H. Harrison, A.d.C.," one page, 7.5 x 2.5, June 20, 1795. A handwritten supply request from his headquarters at Greeneville, in full: "The Commissary will issue to the Wabash Indians eighty pounds of meat & flour." In fine condition, with scattered light staining and toning.
In 1793, at the age of 20, Harrison became aide-de-camp to General 'Mad' Anthony Wayne in the Ohio Indian Wars. Two years later, he would be a signatory to the 1795 Treaty of Greenville, which ended the Northwest Indian War. In the treaty, a coalition of Native American tribes, including the Ottawa, Potawatomi, Chippewa, Miami, and Shawnee, ceded a large area of midwestern land to the United States in exchange for goods valued at $20,000. Harrison would come to national fame nearly two decades later when he again fought the Native Americans, most prominently in a victorious effort over Tecumseh at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.
