TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, black-bordered White House mourning letterhead, August 18, 1923. Letter to Harry E. Barlow, in part: "Thank you for your letter and for your offer. I had not seen the editorial and it was a most interesting one. I have had literally score of offers of additional insurance, but I have decided not to take out any more at this time. Nevertheless, I am obliged to your for writing." In fine condition, with some light creasing. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. An interesting letter written some sixteen days after assuming the presidency following the unexpected death of Warren G. Harding—thus the unusual black-bordered White House stationery, with its matching black-bordered envelope.
