Scarce original French-language ‘General Plan’ color map of the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle, which played host to that year's Summer Olympics, identified as (translated) “1900 International Universal Exhibition, Bois de Vincennes Annex, General Plan,” 41 x 28.25, featuring a beautiful overhead layout of the Bois de Vincennes, the largest public park in the city, which shows the sundry roads and various entry and exit points, as well as notable locations, stations, and landmarks like Lake Daumesnil, the Pare d'Aerostation, the Nouvelle Piste Velocipedique (New Cycle Track), Armees de terre et der Mer (Land and Sea Armies), and more. The plan bears two legends and a set of four additional smaller layout maps to the right side for (translated) “Horse and Donkey Species Competition,” “Competitions for Sheep, Cattle, Pigs, and Farmyard Animals,” “Electric Tramway from Porte de Bercy to Porte de Vincennes,” and “Connection with the Vincennes Railway.” In fine condition, with a few small separations to the intersecting folds. A large and beautiful Parisian map from these historic Olympic Games.
