Postmaster general in the Harding administration (1879-1954) who later headed the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, in which capacity he oversaw enforcement of the notorious 'Production Code' that imposed strict censorship guidelines on all Hollywood films for decades. Uncommon vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 13.75 portrait photo of Will H. Hays by the Butzman photography studio, signed and inscribed in the lower border in bold fountain pen, "To my good friend…with best wishes always, Wm. H. Hays, March 4, 1924.” Framed to a slightly larger size and in fine condition, with wear only to the frame.
