Description

"I showed it to Nelson Eddy for his radio show and evidently he or the sponsor decided against it. Why, I don’t know because it is a stirring song in my opinion"

ALS, one page, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, February 1. Handwritten letter to Captain Lewis, in full: “I have hoped many times that I could give you some definite word about the song, but nothing so far has materialized. I showed it to Nelson Eddy for his radio show and evidently he or the sponsor decided against it. Why, I don’t know because it is a stirring song in my opinion. Also I talked with the producer of a picture who might have had a nice spot for it and he was to call and the call never came. Please just hold tight because I have it in mind at all times and maybe the right spot will show up when we least expect it. Happy new year and best of luck.” In fine condition.

From the Collection of Paul K. Carr, former UACC President and Noted Expert.
