ALS signed “Bob, Robert Stroud #594,” one page, both sides, 8 x 10.25, Alcatraz prison stationery to which he adds his full name and prison address, January 7, 1954. Handwritten letter to Fred E. Daw, his longtime friend and the president of the Chicago Bird Club, discussing potential movie and book deals, in part: “The reason that Geoge was selected to approves the MS, is that what we hope to do is sell the movie rights at the same time….Marc is not qualified. There is no way that I could get to see MS, and George is a man my age who has been newspaper, magazine, and book editor in his time, and he’s smart…He is the one person who has been able to grasp my ideas the first time…So things may be happening in March or April. If the book earns anything near what it should, I should have somewhere between 25 and 40 gs for my end by that time after taxes. If it should become best seller, it will run much more than that…I have written in the past few years six books which average 50 chapters each. I may or may not get every mss, but those chapters are all in my head and can be written almost as fast as I can dictate. Well, anyone of those would work a script for a 30 minute TV show, and will be worth $10,000 at least.” In fine condition.
