Dudley Ward M.P.,” for a single sculls rowing race at 4 PM on July 29th, a quarterfinals matchup between Walter Bowler of Canada and Harry Blackstaffe of Great Britain; the latter earned the gold medal in the event when he narrowly edged fellow countryman Alexander McCulloch in the finals. William Dudley Ward was an English sportsman and Liberal Party politician (1877–1946) who, in addition to serving as a rowing judge, competed in the 8-meter sailing competition and won a bronze medal as a crew member of the British boat Sorais.
