American physicist (1910–1989) who won the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for his development of the transistor. Glossy 8 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo of William Shockley posing with a model, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, "To Bill Wood: 4 Mar 82, W=Shockley.” In fine condition, with small creases to corners and mounting remnants to reverse.
