Description

Italian pope (1649-1721), born Giovanni Francesco Albani, who ascended the papal throne in 1700 and served until his death; remembered as a patron of the arts and sciences, and benefactor of the Vatican Library. Vellum manuscript DS in Latin, signed “G. F. Cardle. Albanus,” one page, 15.25 x 9.75, September 30, 1699. An untranslated papal breve issued under Pope Innocent XII, signed at the conclusion by Cardinal Albani. In fine condition, with intersecting folds.
