Description

Great French composer and pianist (1822–1890) who won some official recognition as the nominated successor of Benoist as organ professor at the Conservatoire. ALS in French, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4 x 5, no date. Handwritten letter to Emil, ostensibly the renowned composer and scored editor Emil von Sauer, in full (translated): “I would like to give you what I owe you, but I cannot bring my little debt to you. I shall be at home on Thursday, the day after tomorrow, from 11:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. It would be very kind of you to come then with your small bill.” Franck adds a postscript: “If you are not free this coming Thursday, I shall also be at home on Thursday, the eighth, from 11:00 A.M. to 4:30 Ρ.Μ.” In fine condition.
