Description

Celebrated composer (1910-1981) whose Adagio for Strings is widely considered a masterpiece of modern classical music. ALS signed “Sam Barber,” penned on the reverse of a 5.5 x 3.5 photo postcard of Chalet Waldegg in Gstaad, Switzerland, postmarked on August 18, 1952. Handwritten letter to Austrian-born American clarinetist and composer Eric Simon, in part: “It was so kind of you to bother about the house…but it finally worked out better here. Europe is so crowded! Best greetings and I hope you had a good summer.” In fine condition.
