Nathan Milstein was a Russian-born American virtuoso violinist (1904–1992) widely considered one of the finest violinists of the 20th century. He was known for his interpretations of Bach's solo violin works and works from the Romantic period.
Sir Thomas Beecham was an English conductor and impresario (1879–1961) best known for his association with the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic orchestras. From the early 20th century until his death, Beecham was a major influence on the musical life of Britain and, according to the BBC, was Britain's first international conductor.
