The Jimi Hendrix Experience appeared at the historic Col Ballroom in Iowa on August 11, 1968, jamming through a six-song, 45-minute set that included 'Are You Experienced?,' 'Lover Man,' 'Tax Free,' 'Foxey Lady,' 'Red House,' 'I Don’t Live Today,' and 'Fire,' before an audience of about 1,500. Hendrix's innovative guitar work, combined with the raw power of Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass, created a sonic experience unlike anything the venue had seen. As Hendrix's only Iowa show, the concert became legendary among local fans and marked one of the last times the band played such an intimate setting before rising to even greater fame. A bootleg recording of the concert is widely available online.
