ALS signed “T. N.,” one page both sides, 6 x 7, personal (Hamden, Connecticut) letterhead, February 27, 1974. Handwritten letter to “Leo,” ostensibly novelist and playwright James Leo Herlihy, in part: “Just a line to thank you and to mark a correction in your quotation for me. Maybe your last two words were merely a slip of the typewriter…A QUOD LIBET (Latin: ‘what you will’) is a musical joke – a medley of tune – usually for popular folk music…So after all the intellectual gymnastics & these fugues…and after the great depth of feeling of some of the sections Bach dishes up this…mishmash.” In fine condition.
